Things To Do In The Snow
Here in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont the colder months are a wonderland for the winter sports enthusiast. With snowmobiling, cross-country, and downhill skiing easily accessible from our location, the Pine Crest Motel & Cabins is perfect for the winter vacationer.

For the snowmobile traveler the Vermont Association of Snowmobile Travelers (VAST), has a trailhead within a mile of our establishment. VAST is a non-profit private group of 138 clubs with a total of 35,000 members statewide. Through the hard work of their members and volunteers they maintain seemingly endless miles of well-groomed trails throughout Vermont. |
The trail head is easily accessible down the road a little less than a mile at the Candlepin Restaurant. This family owned establishment serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner; they are also happy to let you park your trailer for the day while you go out on the trails directly behind the restaurant. |
If cross-country skiing is your interest, the Craftsbury Outdoor Center has miles of the finest trails in Vermont for the novice all the way to the experienced skier. This February they will be having the 27th Annual Craftsbury Marathon Race and Tour. Last year the Vermont State Chamber of Commerce called it, “one of the Top 10 2007 winter events in Vermont”. |

Both Jay Peak and Burke Mountain offer outstanding conditions for any level of downhill skier:
 |
Jay Peak has 50+ miles of skiable terrain with 76 trails and is the host of a wide range of events from the Vermont Telemark Festival to the Big Air Ski Jumping Exhibition. |
If you prefer a different mountain, sitting on 250 acres of usable terrain and 2,011 feet of vertical drop, Burke Mountain is also not too far from us, and is one of the northeast’s best kept secrets. On average they receive about 248 inches of snowfall each year, which keeps their 45 trails ready for any level of downhill skier. |
 |
It is not uncommon for us to have snow on the ground during moose and deer season, which makes for great hunting conditions. Or perhaps you would just like to enjoy the beautiful Vermont winters – we have no shortage of scenery. The Pine Crest is open year round because much of the beauty and wonder of Northeast Vermont is found in the colder months of winter.
